Would you like to learn a language with a cheap, soulless app?

Learning with a canned, soulless app won't get anyone speaking a language with confidence and without fear.

If your level is basic, that's fine: build a foundation with this kind of tool to get started, and add films with subtitles (if they're for small children, even better).

But once you have a foundation, these tools only expose the shortcomings of what's quick, automatic and cheap.

To keep learning efficiently, you should:

  • Have real support that keeps you on your toes, if you genuinely want to speak a language. If not, you can carry on playing with apps to pass the time.
  • Understand the why behind what you learn: some words and phrases come wrapped in curiosities and stories that help you understand the context of the language you want to speak far better.
  • Get some cultural immersion in the language so you can connect in any conversation.
  • Work on the specific areas that you, or a small group, personally need.
  • And then there's the importance of communicating directly with another person who is highly trained and, ideally, a native speaker.

Which language app creates a personalised experience in every session?

None.

If you suddenly find out you have to travel with your boss next Tuesday, try asking the app to put together the ideal session to make an impact in the meetings you'll be having.

If it has AI, you can probably get something fairly generic after a while, and it may help you to a mediocre level.

A language coach is a highly trained person, usually with a good grasp of the client's sector and, obviously, of the language in question.

One year, a client of ours had a very important talk at a medical conference in Austria. He needed to prepare and practise in German for everything that might happen at the conference.

Not just for his talk, but also for all the conversations that would help him close several important projects.

The coach, who spent a few months preparing the sessions with him, had been a doctor for most of her career before going into language coaching. After intensive training, she began teaching German with us to senior executives of German companies in Madrid.

In the end, he had a very productive conference and was also able to take a lot of pressure off by working out in advance how he'd approach the event and handle the meetings that were bound to come up.

If you want your company to keep performing at another level with languages, we offer high-impact language coaching to:

  • Sell more.
  • Close more deals.
  • Be able to answer any boss who speaks another language.
  • Move up to the next professional level, without a language holding you back.
