Everyone wonders what language coaching is.
There's nothing easier, and at the same time more complicated, than carrying out a flexible initial assessment so the right tools can be tailored to each client.
This means we work in a personalised way, always through one-to-one video calls, with small groups or face to face.
What companies ask us for most are Executive Language Coaching and Group Language Coaching.
I could tell you we guarantee you'll speak a language in ten weeks and win a scholarship to study English Philology at Harvard at the very least, but I'd be lying.
Only 13.7% of students who start learning a language have mastered it a few years later.
Why do you think that is? Could it be that they fell out of the cot as babies?
Maybe, but I doubt almost 80% of language learners took a header and were left stunned.
The reason is simple.
The system they followed fell short. Real interaction with a native speaker and practice are key to consolidating what you learn. Then comes how useful it is to you, now and in the future.
These days there are plenty of tools, apps and recorded courses that can help you build a small foundation. I don't know if it's good or bad, but they must teach something.
The question to ask yourself is whether you want the language just to get by at home, order food in a restaurant or try your luck at the disco. In that case, yes, I'd tell you to use any resource to get started and, if it's free, all the better.
But if what you want is to improve your relationships with people from other countries, boost your skills for work or reach the level that opens up more opportunities abroad, you need language coaching: to hold your own in any setting, prepare for the situations you'll face and, above all, practise with native speakers so you feel confident expressing yourself in another language.
Language coaching is like a colleague you can lean on when you have to handle, alone, a task you're not an expert in.
We focus on you, rather than on rigid rules, to help you learn the language. We look for the best teachers in each sector to help you reach your professional goals and, above all, your life goals.
What's the use of having all the grammar and vocabulary in the world if I then close up and die of embarrassment when speaking another language?
Almost none. If you only have to do it on paper, maybe you'll get away with it. But we want you to communicate, to feel at ease doing it, to walk in and connect with that awkward director without him thinking you're worth less just because insecurity stops you showing what you've got. That's what we work on with coaching: your security and your confidence when communicating in another language.
